My Position on Our City Budget
We should be willing and able to pass a balanced budget every year because we can and should live within our means. It is wrong to use reserves to make up for any planned operating deficit or budget shortfall because it violates our community values of fiscal conservatism, risk aversion and financial discipline.
My Position on Traffic Management
The people decisively defeated the Coronado tunnel project in June 2010. Coronado needs realistic and cost effective traffic management in order to improve our island quality of life and property values. The time for traffic "study" is over. Now is the time for positive action. City council must roll up our collective sleeves and do the hard work of (1) agreeing to a traffic policy that reduces vehicle trips to/from our island and (2) directing city staff to carry out a new traffic policy.
My Position on Strengthening Code Enforcement
Coronado residents and small business owners want and deserve stronger code enforcement that is predictable, reliable and fair. Instead of the current complaint-driven code enforcement policy which is divisive and intimidating, Coronado needs pro-active code enforcement across the board from the building code to the traffic code. This will restore faith in our municipal government and improve our island quality of life.
