Mayor; City of Escondido

Frankly, most candidates for Mayor are actually running for a seat on the City Council. Their positions on issues such as fiscal prudence, community appearance, public safety, and community services do not require them to be the Mayor. They can address those issues as council members.

The Mayor needs to take into account those priorities as well. However, the Mayor's job embraces much more. We need our next mayor to use his implied powers and influence as the city's leader and chief ambassador to attract quality jobs and expand commercial services for our residents.

To be able to do so requires that we unite our community around common purposes and goals. Unlike other candidates who have been a very divisive force in the community, I have the leadership and consensus building skills to retain and attract the jobs and commerce we need in order to restore the services that contribute to the quality of life for all of us who live here. That's why Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler, the Escondido Police Officers Association and so many other responsible community leaders are supporting my candidacy.

As Escondido's next Mayor, I will...

  • Provide leadership to attract and retain businesses that provide revenues necessary for the quality of life of all our residents;
  • Provide leadership to redevelop under-utilized sections of our downtown into centers for 21st Century jobs for those who live here;
  • Provide leadership to bring our diverse community together around issues that affect the quality of life of all of who live here;
  • Provide leadership to protect taxpayers and keep Escondido safe, clean and well managed; and,
  • Provide leadership to protect and enhance our theatres, museums, galleries, libraries and programs for youths and seniors + all the resources that make Escondido the wonderful city it is.
