Candidate Statement

By Pete Babich

Candidate for Council Member; City of Poway

This information is provided by the candidate
Long time resident ready to give back.

My name is Pete Babich, and I am running for a seat on the Poway City Council.

Invested in Poway: My family has lived in Poway for 36 years. Our children benefited from great schools, safe neighborhoods, and outdoor activities. I coached soccer, baseball, and softball. I served as a youth sports administrator, and I was one of the founders of the Poway Vaqueros. For the past three years I have been a member of the Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol.

Proven Leader: I have a Master's Degree Electrical Engineering. I was a senior executive with Hewlett-Packard for 17 years. I have been an entrepreneur and small business owner for the past 18 years. I will bring the same level of managerial expertise, dedication to excellence, and budgetary discipline that I practice daily in my professional life.

Poway's Future: Poway's General Plan has served us well for thirty years, but we can't count on growth to fund our lifestyle. Pressure to increase density, water shortages, fire risks, and a down economy threaten our way of life. I will act to preserve what is good about Poway and work to develop its vision for the next thirty years.

Commitment to Service: You can count on me to do my homework, listen, and make decisions that improve our general welfare. I will bring a fresh perspective and be an independent voice. I'm not beholden to any special interest group; I will listen to and represent ALL Poway residents.

If you want Poway to be run based on "who you know," then you should vote for the incumbents; if you want a council member that cares about ALL Poway residents, then for Poway's sake - vote for Pete.

I appreciate your vote
