  • Promoted new Serial Inebriate Program to get chronic inebriates off our city streets and into treatment. More public safety resources can now be redirected.

  • Provided the City new efficient "failure to appear" authorization for repeat criminal violations currently not addressed by the courts.

  • Amended downtown/beach ordinances to enhance safe enjoyable public spaces.

  • Created new hotel ID requirements to remove potential criminal activity.

  • Working closely with SCPD on their very successful gang prevention PRIDE program, targeting at-risk youth.

  • Working with Housing officials on a new leasing program targeting gang activity

  • Working non-stop with the Santa Cruz Police Department staff and community members to resolve and improve safety concerns throughout the City

  • Brokered the historic UCSC agreement opening the way to many new entrepreneurial partnerships that in the past would not remain in Santa Cruz.

  • Strong advocate for the next generation of new local businesses in all sectors of retail, hotel & lodging, immerging healthy lifestyle & eco-tourism businesses, green building planning, building trades, and hi-tech partnerships

  • Actively representing locally owned businesses and their immerging needs.

  • Supporting the City's model green building program, publicly recognizing owners and professionals who incorporate these values.

  • Collaborating with Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council meetings and on selection panel for Sanctuary public art.
