I care deeply about the children in the Pajaro Valley Schools and would be honored to serve the district as Trustee for Area 1, Aptos/Corralitos. I have the creativity, the desire, and the ability to make improvements to the schools of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. WE CAN DO BETTER!

As a social worker and the mother of children, ages 9 and 12, I am committed to improving our community. Six years ago I began a journey to improve Valencia Elementary. That first year, I was surprised to discover that the school had no working computers -- for children or teachers, just 30 miles from Silicon Valley, and yet no working technology!

Since that time, I have worked tirelessly along with a group of talented individuals, driven to improve our public school. Achievements include successful grant writing ($130k) and project management, which enabled Valencia to:

  • Establish much needed technology for students and teachers.
  • Replace broken playground equipment with a playground that serves all children, including children with disabilities,
  • Place lunchtime picnic tables so children don't have to sit on the ground (underway).

I participate in Home and School Club, as Site Council Chair, coordinate the Arts Program, and served on the North Zone Council.

I will bring this creative energy to the school board, working to:

  • Focus on student achievement and parent satisfaction;
  • Explore funding sources for Aptos/Corralitos schools;
  • Work to improve the school lunch program;
  • Improve morale and retain quality, experienced teachers and staff!
