Brian lives with his wife Wendy and young son Luke on North Central Avenue. He is an executive at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, where he works with local governments, businesses and community leaders across Silicon Valley to develop good public policy.

Brian is a member of the Santa Clara County Senior Care Commission, and serves on the St. Lucy's parish council. He has also been an adjunct professor at San Jose State University, and a member of the Santa Clara General Plan Task Force.

Brian grew up in the small farming community of Castroville. As a young man, Brian served with nonprofit organizations in the Bay Area, Texas, and Mexico, and interned in Congress and at the U.S. embassy to the Vatican. He also worked for two years with the diplomatic service at the U.S. Embassy to Russia.

Brian earned his BA with honors in American Studies at Stanford, where he was an All-American rugby player. He went on to earn a masters degree in public policy from Princeton University and a PhD in comparative government from Oxford University. Brian speaks Spanish and Russian.
