The Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors is composed of seven members. Five members are elected from geographical areas which coincide with the county supervisorial districts, and two at-large members are appointed by the county Board of Supervisors.

The directors serve overlapping four-year terms. This structure was created pursuant to the adoption of the District Act
