My reason for running for the VVUHSD Board of Trustees

By James A. "Chief" Moitoso

Candidate for Member, Governing Board; Victor Valley Union High School District

I believe I can make a difference
I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to be a part of preparing our nation's youth in a positive way for life after high school, the responsibilities of productive citizenship in the 21st century, and to become leaders. I felt that I could make a difference; the same way I felt when I joined the Air Force. I served my country for 26 years and I taught my country's children for 15. It just didn't get any better than that!

Now I have the chance to be reelected to the School Board of Trustees. What an outstanding opportunity to feel that I can continue to make a difference. Not only to help our children, but to ensure that decisions made in our district are right and just, and will benefit all. In whatever position I have ever held, I always recalled the words of Abraham Lincoln, "Whatever you are, be a good one." My mission and goals have always remained the same: To strive to perform to the very best of my ability.
