My personal fight for literacy and education

Since 1996, I have been involved in education in the Corona, Norco, and Eastvale area. Being elected to the school board would give me a stronger voice on behalf of youth, parents, and teachers in our community. I want our school district to continue to strive for excellence so that all children in our community can succeed.

I am here because I love learning and I passionately believe that every child must know that he/she can succeed. This fight is personal for me. It is my mission to ensure that children in our school district do not experience what I did for many years of my life. I want to lead with dignity and act with the best interests of our kids, parents, and teachers close to my heart.

Leadership in tough times

These are difficult times. Members of our school board must make tough choices. I believe the mark of a true leader is when someone is willing to step forward in the hard times - not just the easy ones. I want to encourage our district to think outside the box to find new ways to maintain and improve important programs, including arts, vocational education, and after-school programs without placing more pressure on the budget. Our district was once an aggressive seeker of grant funding; unfortunately that is no longer the case. Despite the down economy, there is still money out there from non-traditional sources. Let's take better advantage.

Keep our kids safe at school

I want to increase the presence of school resource officers (SRO's) on our campuses. SRO's will keep our kids safe at school and also provide honorable role models for our kids to follow. SRO's can be a bridge to the rest of the community, creating a safer and more positive environment on both sides of school fences.

Prepare our kids for college and the workforce

This recession has made the job market for high school graduates the most competitive that we have seen in our lifetime. I want our kids to start early with learning life and workforce skills. We must equip them well from the very beginning; they must be ready to compete in a 21st Century workforce. We must do more to instill the value of a college or vocational education in every child. Starting now will ensure our (and their) long-term economic prosperity and personal fulfillment.

Let's keep getting better - together!

We have an excellent school district and I intend to build upon the success we have had. Join me in this grassroots campaign, and lend your voice to the future of the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

I would be honored to have your vote
