Candidate Statement

By Matt Monica

Candidate for Director; Coachella Valley Water District; Division 3

This information is provided by the candidate
See Statement below.
This is the time for all of us to understand the importance of water conservation. The Coachella Valley continues to exceed the amount of replenished water annually. Imported water is a necessary component of our water supply, but continues to be costly and restricted. Rain and snow help replenish our supply but not at the necessary level.

Replenishment practices are lagging behind water needs in the Coachella Valley. In order to meet our water needs, conservation must be combined with the passage of Proposition 18 on November 2, 2010. Also known as "The Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Act of 2010", this will allow California to upgrade the water system.

Water issues are a rarity on the ballot. We have an opportunity to avert a water crisis with the passage of Proposition 18 and future generations will thank us.

I am 66 years old and have lived in the Coachella Valley for 37 years. I am married to Mary Ann for 42 years and we have sons Matt Jr. and Joseph. I am a Marine Corps Veteran, Rotarian and have served on the Desert Sands School District Board of Education for 24 years.

Vote for Matt Monica on November 2.
