Safety in Schools

By Steven Green

Candidate for Board Member; Corona-Norco Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Student safety has become a concern in public schools. We need to do everything to provide a safe learning environment for students and a safe working environment for educators.
There are too many incidents of violence in schools today. There are too many disruptions in the classrooms today. Students and staff need to feel safe to ensure a positive learning environment. School wide discipline needs to be enforced and consistent throughout the district. Law enforcement and canine need to be utilized during locker checks. School personnel must ensure no intruders set foot on campuses. Campus security needs to be increased to support administration staff. We cannot use enough caution and preparation to ensure student safety. When a school campus is safe and disruptions are at a minimum then learning excels in the classroom and the culture of the school improves.
