Here's where I stand:

Keep cuts out of the classrooms. Education budgets in our state continue to suffer cuts, but I will fight to ensure these are made in ways that limit the direct effect on students. We need to invest in upgrading technology and learning environments. We should provide students with hands-on science, music and arts education.

I am unafraid to question the status quo. As a parent, businesswoman and non-educator, I don't assume that how things are done in education are how they should be. I will ask the tough questions, look for alternatives and use common sense and responsibility to make decisions for our school district.

Children and successful schooling are my priority. I not only have five children in Fountain Valley classrooms, I am involved in every aspect of our district as a volunteer. I am active in the PTA, the Fountain Valley Educational Foundation, the Superintendent Parent Council and the Legislative Action Committee for Education. I see our district's needs in person and have contact with students at all levels, so I can focus on solutions that meet those needs directly and efficiently.

A strong School District is valuable to our community at large. Fountain Valley schools are among the top in Orange County and the state, and this is reflected in our quality of life. Above average scoring helps us enjoy above average property values, and draws families to our community that we all would like to have as neighbors.

I believe in the importance of values. To prepare our students for the future, we need to do more than educate them well. We need to instill the values of commitment, personal freedom and personal responsibility. I will work to promote these as important ideals of Fountain Valley schooling.
