Orange schools are at a crossroads. OUSD has made strides managing our financial situation; we now have to focus on our children's teaching and learning.

Too many of our middle school students still arrive at high school behind grade level. They are unprepared for a rigorous high school curriculum and continue to struggle to keep up.

Our goal must be for ALL students to graduate proficient or above in English and math, but more importantly, we need to make sure our children can apply their knowledge in college and in the workplace. A quality LEARNING program starts in elementary school and must include music, art, and sports education.

I will: Determine what learning interventions work and include our teachers in educational policy-making.

Refocus the District on recruiting and retaining top-flight teachers and improving instruction and curriculum.

Work to develop a top-tier college preparatory curriculum and a practical vocational education track so that ALL students are job or college-ready.

I have a MBA and a Masters in Education; I understand the business of teaching and learning. I know our kids can be successful learners because "all kids can learn, but not in the same way and not on the same day".
