"It's so rare to actually find people who want to learn as much as they can about the community and government and then apply that knowledge fairly and evenhandedly in the best interests of the community. Joe has been one of those people." - Debbie Cook, Former Huntington Beach Mayor

  • Public Safety Comes First

Keeping our neighborhoods and public spaces safe and free from crime will be one of Joe's highest priorities. we must make sure police, fire and marine safety protection is fully funded. As we move forward with new development, we need a comprehensive plan in place to make sure we can support our future police, fire and marine safety needs.

  • Fix Our Roads & Sidewalks

For too long, we've ignored our crumbling infrastructure. Joe led efforts as a Charter Review Commissioner to increase funding to public works projects, such as repairing roads and sidewalks, by requiring it in the city charter. He'll continue that fight on the city council.

  • Protect Our Parks and Beaches

As a planning commissioner, Joe voted consistently to protect our city's open spaces. As a board member of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, he's working to restore and save the Bolsa Chica. As a councilman, Joe will work doubly hard to protect our beaches, improving our public facilities and water quality.

  • Support Senior Services

While cities, counties and the state struggle with declining budgets, we must make sure our important senior services are protected. Sustaining our Meals on Wheels programs and our excellent senior transportation services are of the utmost importance

  • Support Our Small Businesses

We need leaders with common sense and business experience on our city council. On the Planning Commission, I looked after the needs of our small businesses. As a businessman who has succeeded in downtown Huntington Beach, I believe our city council should be removing obstacles to success, not creating them.

  • Downtown Huntington Beach

Our downtown neighborhood is one of the best examples anywhere of the kind of "walkable neighborhoods" that cities across the world are spending billions to create. We need to provide downtown with further neighborhood services, such as a grocery store, so that a downtown family literally could walk or bike anywhere they need to go. It's important not to overbuild and destroy the neighborhood feeling we have downtown.

  • Expand Our City's Green Programs

We can and will find more ways for the city to save taxpayer dollars by conserving energy and water. In this time of high energy costs, it's important that we continue to build on our city's green successes. We should expand and improve our green building program for businesses, while providing more incentives for families to reduce energy and water costs in their homes.
