Orange County Registrar of Voters: Candidate Statement

By John Palacio

Candidate for Board Member; Santa Ana Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As a school board member, I have managed taxpayer funds in an efficient and prudent manner. As a parent of a child with disabilities, I know the importance of making a difference. I have made a difference in reducing school over-crowding, improving test scores and teaching students to learn English:

Increased the number of high school graduates.

Reduced the student drop-out rate.

Increased reading/math test scores.

Increased English instructional hours.

Increased the number of students passing the high school exit exam.

Increased the number of students attending pre-school, summer school, after-school and weekend tutoring programs.

Implemented a Comprehensive College Preparation Program.

Nearly 700 million dollars has been spent in building, expanding and modernizing state-of-the-art school facilities. Added hundreds of new classrooms.

Built two fundamental high schools. Tripled the number of students attending fundamental schools.

Approved 5 new charter schools to give parents Choice.

I am a member of the Elks and former member of the Rotary and Lions Clubs. I was active with the boy scouts, little league and working with developmentally disabled youth. I have helped raise funds for charities, scholarships and school programs.

My children attended and graduated from Santa Ana schools. Contact me: 714-542-0589 or Jpalacio@pacbell.net.
