Education

By John Leos

Candidate for Council Member; City of Anaheim

This information is provided by the candidate
Importance of working to get Anaheim's fair share of education funding. Necessity of collaboration to safeguard future of Anaheim children.
Education is vital to Anaheim's success. Good schools will motivate people to move into a city, as is the case in Irvine.

For city government, this issue should be addressed by tapping into our fair share of state and federal funding; our state elected officials can help us with this and want to help us.

Anaheim should also improve the relationship between school board members, city and state elected officials, parents and parent organizations.

We should especially reach out to parents -- the shy ones as well as the apathetic ones. We want them to recognize what a vital part of the process they are. We want to convince them of the central role they can play in their children's futures through collaboration. Let's have them ask us questions while we bring them on board as partners making a personal investment in their children's futures rather than passive receivers of the directives of others.
