John Leos is running for the Anaheim City Council to serve the city he grew up in and loves, its residents and their families. He was born in Anaheim and has lived in the city for 34 years. His family has deep roots in Anaheim, going back 90 years and spanning five generations; he learned a lot about community and service from them.

He has also learned a lot about service from his years in the U.S. Marine Corps, which he joined after graduating from Canyon High School 1991. He served in a reserve capacity with the Marine Corps until his honorable discharge as Corporal in 1999. John was also a member of the Anaheim Park Ranger program from 1993 until 2003. His career as a Probation Peace Officer began in 1996.

His values shape his vision of Anaheim as one where the three pillars of Anaheim -- the community, business, and city government -- all collaborate to solve problems. He promises to work to see that each group has a voice when decisions are made on the council. He believes good government is based on the values of transparency and accountability, not "business as usual" politics.

His two sons, Bryce age seven and Grant age four, also motivate him to seek office. They both attend Anaheim schools, and he cares about what the future holds for them. John knows that our stewardship of Anaheim now will affect them and other Anaheim children for years to come.

His wife Shelly is manager for an entertainment company. She was born and raised in Anaheim and graduated from Katella High School. She also volunteers at a local elementary school. John and Shelly have been East Anaheim homeowners since 2002. John has a liberal arts degree from Rancho Santiago College. John also helps coach his son's baseball team and is a member of the State Coalition Of Probation Organizations as well as American Legion Post 72.
