I believe in efficient, transparent and accountable government that places services for its citizens first. My Number 1 priority is public safety. Cities exist to provide services, not to reward city management or to build up huge savings accounts at the expense of services for citizens.

A city that does not seek citizen participation is ignoring a major resource that can provide valuable input into policy decisions and is failing to provide a "succession plan" that will preopare citizens for future civic leadership. I believe an INDEPENDENT Planning Commission, a Financial Oversight Commission, and a Business Development Commission will help steer the city on a better course.

Without transparency, there is little accountability. Without accountability, democracy suffers. A city should broadcast or stream its meetings, make extended agendas available on-line and at council meetings, and provide complete and easilly-understandable information on-line about management and city council salaries and benefits.
