I am Cathy Green and am running for the Orange County Water District, Division # 6. Water is the most important resource we have. We literally cannot survive without it.

I've served on several water-related public commissions and boards including:

· The Orange County Sanitation District Board of Directors

· Orange County Harbors, Beaches and Parks Commission

· West Orange County Water Board

· Groundwater Replenishment System Committee

· Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency and

· Huntington Beach Citywide Water Quality Subcommittee

I can serve you confidently, as I have a background in water and a history of conservative values.

The three hallmarks of my campaign for Orange County Water District are:

1. Water Supply Infrastructure. Our residents and businesses must be assured of a reliable, cost-certain water supply + even in times of drought. New locally-controlled water reliability projects like the Groundwater Replenishment System and the Huntington Beach Seawater Facility will help make that possible.

2. Low water rates. Imported water rates are high and they continue to rise. In Orange County, we have no control over the next time a judge decides to cut Southern California's imported water supply which was done recently. We also can't control when the next drought will hit. That is why locally-controlled water projects, along with water conservation and increased water storage, is essential. We must continue to wean ourselves off of expensive imported water and develop and manage locally-controlled, cost-certain water resources right here in Orange County.

3. Groundwater Management. North and Central Orange County are blessed with a groundwater aquifer that can store billions of gallons of fresh drinking water. It is incumbent upon us to protect this valuable resource, ensure that it is regularly replenished, minimize water runoff and prevent seawater intrusion that can contaminate the fresh water in the aquifer.

We must protect and enhance our water resources for our economic growth, our quality of life and our next generation of Orange County residents. At the end of the day, I will fight for clean, fresh, reliable water at the lowest possible water rates.
