I am running for re-election after having served four years on the Monterey Peninsula Airport Board. My commitment to the Airport Board has been an opportunity for me to give back to our community. The Monterey airport is an important component to a strong business and resident community. Monterey Peninsula Airport contributes $500 million dollars directly and indirectly to our local ecomony.

I have lived on the Monterey Peninsula for over 40 years and I am aware of our community needs, strengths and weaknesses.

For the last four years I have worked to make Monterey a better airport. During my time in office our airport has:

Remodeled and modernize our terminal (2007), Added a baggage carousel (2008), Replaced taxiway & runway lights with energy-saving LED & quartz lights(08/09), Added a pilot radio controlled lighting switch which allow runaway lights to be turned off at night (2009), Repaved all taxiways and runways (2008/2009), Replaced terminal interior lights with energy saving lights(2009), Purchased 3 new fire trucks (2006/2008), Improved safety and reduced aircraft noise with pilot flight guides (2008), Added electronic Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS)(2010).

Ninety-six percent of the $30 million spent for these and other projects came from the Federal Aviation Trust Fund from airline ticket sales. Monterey Airport collects NO local tax dollars.

In 2010 we also completed a twenty-one year Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) program soundproofing over 900 homes surrounding the airport. All these projects increased employment in Monterey County.

Our Airport now has four Airlines flying approximately 32 flights a day to five cities and services over 400,000 passengers a year! There is still much to accomplish. During my next term I what to improve air service which should lower ticket prices through competition, improve runway safety, create new quieter aircraft landings and takeoffs, have a greener more sustainable airport, and new access roads to lessen neighborhood traffic. I believe my experience and qualifications make me uniquely qualified to continue as your airport director. I will be honored for your vote. If you have any questions, call me (831) 275-0154 or email me: CarlForAirport@aol.com.

Thank you

Carl Miller
