Council Member; City of Eureka; Ward 3

I believe that Government needs to be simplified....less bureaucracy...the City of Eureka, coupled with the County of Humboldt needs to be sending the message that we want business here, not by requiring more rules & paperwork, but straightening the way. And by growing, attracting, & retaining business, we will expand our tax base so that we can protect our police and fire jobs.

We need to attract job opportunities in order to maintain a quality of life that will allow our children & grandchildren to stay here to raise the next generation. Our grade schools are closing, families are moving away because good paying living wage jobs are moving away as well. Be open to new business ideas like "wave generation" for electricity generation, short sea shipping (to help utilize our port while it is growing), and encourage niche manufacturing which is an important part of our economic future here in Humboldt

Clean up the Water(Bay)front. We have a jewel of a waterfront that is not being utilized for the vibrant Bay front it can be with economic and recreational opportunities for everyone. I support an incentive program to develop affordable housing for new buyers & renting Eureka residents. I'll encourage development of empty downtown buildings into "new urban", no-sprawl condo and live/work space.

We don't need more Plans, we have, and have HAD plenty of them ...what we need is Action NOW.

I am open to new ideas & will explore to act upon if at all feasible, I believe that Government needs to be responsive to the People. Government exists to serve the Public, not the Public to serve the Government.
