Review Linda's published candidate statement..."I pledge to continue my focus on providing our children with the best educational environment possible."
Dear Friends:

Since elected to the Board 13 years ago, I continue the practice I began as a volunteer while my three daughters were district students: spending time in classrooms, talking with teachers and school staff, observing students as they learn.

As trustee, my decisions are based on education research and best practices, observations of teaching and learning during weekly school visits, continuous conversations with educators and people in the community, and through my 30-year involvement with local and state PTA.

My leadership supports MDUSD through major challenges: plummeting funding, high stakes testing, demographic changes, declining enrollment. Graduation rates and student performance steadily improve through my support of increased access to rigorous, career integrated curriculum.

Vigilant Measure C construction management meets pledges to voters for new classrooms, school technology and facility improvements. Energy improvements will benefit the general fund, preserving student programs. Effective staff training and retention are critical.

For each decision, I have balanced what my heart tells me is needed for student success with what the district's financial well-being can support. It's easy to make decisions in good times. With today's budget challenges, it takes experience, dedication and resolve to make hard decisions. I've shown I can do that.

I value communication, transparency and data driven decisions.

I support full-day kindergarten, every student reading by third grade, writing well by fifth, completing algebra by eighth, passing the high school exit exam by tenth, graduating career- or college-ready.

I maintain one focus, what is best for children.

If re-elected, I pledge to continue my focus on providing our children with the best educational environment possible.

I welcome your support. 925.935.6938. http://www.LindaMayo4MDUSD.com Vote for Linda Mayo -- Dedication, Service, Integrity, Experience!
