Brief Bio

My wife and I moved to Contra Costa County in 1980. We were both raised in San Leandro, met in high school, and have now been married for 35 years. Our two children grew up in San Ramon and are now young adults. We have been involved in local schools, sports, and music programs for nearly 30 years. I am a past-President and was an active member of the San Ramon Valley Kiwanis Club for 25 years. I am also past-President of our local homeowners' association.

I have been a veterinarian for 33 years. In 1981, I started a veterinary practice in San Ramon. I opened a second veterinary practice in Danville 10 years later. When I sold my interests in these two businesses, they employed over 100 people. I feel very qualified to manage a small business. Currently, I own Veterinary Support Services, providing veterinary services to multiple veterinary hospitals in Contra Costa County. I am also very active in our local and state veterinary associations. I will be serving as President of the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) next year. CVMA has more than 6000 members and serves our profession in many capacities. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa Veterinary Medical Association. In addition, I am active in disaster preparedness, currently serving as Veterinary Disaster Relief Coordinator for Contra Costa County.

My father has served on the Board of Directors of the Oro Loma Sanitary District (OLSD) in San Lorenzo for nearly 24 years. He is currently President of their Board. I point this out because he has given me many insights in how to contain costs and effectively run a sanitation district. As noted in my election goals that follow, OLSD provides their ratepayers with far better value for their tax dollars. With effective leadership, I believe that the ratepayers of Central Contra Costa Sanitary District can continue to receive excellent services with absolutely NO tax rate increases.
