I'm Michael Harris and I love Pleasant Hill. That's why I ran for City Council eight years ago and that's why I'm running for re-election.

I was born and raised in San Francisco and have lived in the Bay Area all of my life. I'm married to a wonderful woman and have four terrific kids. I've been active in local government and community service all of my adult life.

I am Professor Emeritus at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry, where I've taught for some 45 years.

I've been a member of the Pleasant Hill City Council since 2002 and have served two terms as Pleasant Hill's Mayor. I am active in the community and involved in helping our kids and our seniors.

I have a track record of proven leadership as a Mayor, a Councilmember, and community leader. Maintaining vital services while being fiscally responsible is a major challenge facing our community. We can do this best by enhancing our sources of revenue and reducing our costs.

I am a proven consensus builder and will work with fellow Councilmembers, the community, and city staff to reduce our costs in a rational, reasonable, practical way. I also support Measure T, which is on the November ballot. This modest utility tax increase will + if it passes + provide stable, sustainable and reliable income to Pleasant Hill to help maintain vital services.

I love Pleasant Hill and try to do something every day to make it the best place it can be.
