Los Medanos Community Healthcare District Board Facts & Philosophy.

In 1946 California created Healthcare Districts all over the State of California for the purpose of improving and providing care for the health of citizens in their respective districts. In that way California has been a trailblazer in regards to healthcare being a public trust managed by an elected board.

Currently our Los Medanos Community Healthcare District is just a shadow of what it once was. LMCHD operated Los Medanos Hospital for many years and provided quality care and promoted the health of it's citizens. Through a grave error many years ago by LMCHD Board of Directors the hospital and the District went bankrupt and fell into very bad times.

Today the immediate situation and the not too distant future of LMCHD can be very bright if it is properly lead to accomplish steps toward that goal. Current Board President has been instrumental in providing much needed leadership moving the LMCHD in the right direction.

I will work together with newly elected LMCHD candidates and the current Board President to move the District forward toward it's former greatness.

The big priorities I will work for are:

1. Pay off the District debt early.
2. Hiring a full-time director and assistant to properly manage programs and LMCHD itself.
3. Support & Develop Partnership Programs with existing agencies to more efficiently deliver program services.
4. Increase resources for care for the elderly and hospice.
5. Support Programs for Children & Persons with Disabilities.
6. Combat Youth Smoking and Obesity through School Partnerships.
7. Bring Competence, Transparency and Accountability back to the Los Medanos Community Healthcare District Board.
