1968 moved to San Pablo California from El Paso, Texas to attend college. I have been living in San Pablo ever since and am a homeowner. I have two children and three grandchildren. Except for my third and youngest granddaughter, they all went to public schools. I am married and my husband Elbert, just recently retired.

I am one of 14 children and the first to attend college.

1974 - I graduated from Contra Costa College with an AA degree 1976 - Mills College with a BA degree in Psychology 1978 - U.C Berkely with a Master Degree in Social Work

1978 + 1983 My initial clinical training and employment was at La Clinica De La Raza in Oakland

I have been and currently am employed by Contra Costa County Mental Health as a Program Manager for the past 30 years.

Accomplishments:

1979 Co-founder Familias Unidas Counseling Center in Richmond 1998 First Latina elected as City Clerk for City of San Pablo 2002 First Latina elected as Council member for City of San Pablo 2006 Re-elected for San Pablo Council member My term ends 2010 and I am seeking reelection

Council appointment: West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee Youth Task Force Member San Pablo/Manzanillo Sister City Committee Past representative to East Bay League of Cities San Pablo School's Principals Facilitator

Recent Recognitions: May, 2006 Distinguished Contra Costa College Alumnae of the year 2008 West Contra Costa Unified School District State of our Schools Partner Award of the year. 2009 Received Familias Unidas 30th Annivarsary Founder Award
