Smart Voter Official Statement for Mary Ellen (McCabe) Garrahy

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Oroville City Elementary School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

As a mother of two young children in the Oroville City Elementary School District, I bring to this position a parent's point of view. Like other caring parents, I. am concerned about issues such as class size and maintaining high academic standards for students in the district.

I currently work for Butte County Office of Education after school programs to develop curriculum and trainings for staff at 24 school sites throughout the county. I formerly was employed as a middle school teacher and bring ten years of experience in the field of education to this position. I am proud to say that L grew up in Oroville and am part of Ophir, Central and Las Plumas High School's alumni. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Business Administration from CSU, Chico. My husband and I'-have chosen to raise our family in Oroville because we love this area and the close-knit community.

If elected, I promise to do my part to listen to all viewpoints, act as a team player, and insure that the children of our community receive a quality elementary school education.
