Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Tamara R. Dorfman

Candidate for
Director; Feather River Recreation and Park District; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate

Accomplishments while a Board Member

-Budget back in the black due to strong fiscal restraint. I was appointed to the Finance Committee in January 2010.

-Nationwide search for a new General Manager resulted in the hiring of a very experienced General Manager with strong budgeting skills and expertise in recreation programming. I have served on the Personnel Committee since being appointed to the Board in April 2009.

-Dog Park built through community donations and the corporate donation of crews and material by Home Depot. I have been an active member of the volunteer group who have worked to make the Dog Park a reality.

Future Priorities

-Increase affordable programs for all age groups. Now that the District has purchased the Gymnastics Academy, there are now rooms available to conduct recreational programs. A rock climbing wall will be installed soon and programs desired by the community will be developed.

-The Dog Park has many opportunities for programs and activities. Dog training classes have begun. An agility course in the dog park and a "Splash Dog" area in the adjacent pond would enhance the dog park.

-Continue submitting grant proposals to gain funding to expand the walking trail along the Feather River, build a nature center, and improve existing parks.

-Continue fiscal restraint to ensure the District has a sound budget.
