Candidate Statements from Jack Berry

By Jack Berry

Candidate for Council Member; City of Oroville

This information is provided by the candidate
My philosophy and accomplishments in serving the Oroville Community.
My name is Jack Berry.

I was an infant when my parents moved to Oroville and have attended schools and worked in Oroville since that time, except for military service where I became a disabled veteran. In the past I have served the people of Oroville in the capacity as an Oroville Police Department Officer, as well as a past council member.

Owing no favors from past political office, I have put the long-term interests of Oroville before the short-term interests. I have supported both the Oroville Police Department and the Oroville Fire Department in securing the fiscal resources to effectively protect YOU the citizens of Oroville.

I request your vote so that I can serve you independently by setting a strong example of fiscal restraint and being a strong advocate for taxpayers, ensuring that your voice is heard. I have the experience, energy, and determination to ensure that YOU get representation on the issues before the City Council. As a city councilman, I will be non-partisan in representing all political parties.

I have been involved in the foundation of the Nature Center. As a police officer, I cleaned up the transit element that was making the area a residential habitat, laying the groundwork for the creation of the Nature Center.

Also, I initited the neighborhood watch program. I was interested in supporting the local community by reaching out to the people in the various neighborhoods; thereby, learing how to structure and implement the neighborhood watch program to the most effective results. Reduced crime equals service to the people.

I have supported the Veterans Memorial. I have attended meetings and furthered the cause by speaking out in favor of recognizing our troops in the military.

I am against high or unnecessary taxes; however, am willing to spend money only on those things that would benefit the public at large.

I have consistently stood up for the people of Oroville, fighting the good fight to improve conditions despite opposing self-interest agendas. I have refused contributions in running my campaign in order to remain independent of outside influences. Your VOTE for me (not money) will represent YOUR choice for your continued representation on the Oroville City Council.
