When I first moved to Livermore in 1993, I was a single parent with limited resources. LARPD was my savior. Over the years, LARPD has provided me with affordable day care as well as countless athletic programs and educational offerings that my daughter and I utilized on a regular basis. I continue to look forward to each LARPD catalog that comes to the house and deciding which classes to take.

As a nurse, I strive to teach my patients to live actively and eat well. With the economic problems our country is facing, this has become even more important. In these difficult economic times, I am pleased to see LARPD offering classes that focus on health living, healthy cooking, as well as classes that help people stretch budgets.

I bike the Arroyo Trail on my way to Valley Care, I am thrilled to see countless people enjoying our parks. Each day I see people of all ages using our parks. In any given day, I see retired citizens taking a morning stroll, moms jogging with their strollers, kids walking their dogs. In the evening, I see the gentlemen out playing horseshoes. I've lived in various other cities where the parks go unused. This does not happen in Livermore. Our community uses and appreciates their parks. I will strive to continue maintaining and increasing the parks and trails throughout Livermore.

If elected, I will focus on increasing affordable offerings that teach sustainable living and healthy lifestyles. I will work towards encouraging urban farming. I will work on improving the trails between Livermore and Pleasanton as a green solution to commuting.

I will strive to maintain Camp Shelly as a true jewel of our community and I will also work towards increasing the availability of parks and educational programs offered by LARPD.

As a citizen of Livermore who has used the recreational facilities and programs for years, I have gained a keen understanding of our community's recreational needs. I will bring fresh ideas on maintaining and growing LARPD's programs with the goal of helping those in need as well as enhancing the lives of Livermore's citizens.
