Recent Accomplishments as a City Council Representative

My recent accomplishments include honoring Pleasanton veterans, protecting our quality of life, providing for youth and senior services, and working for quality affordable housing.
  • Developed City Council Meeting Closing Comments with Fred Norman and Doug Miller: "The Pleasanton City Council adjourns our meeting with a tribute to our nation's men and women serving in the military. We wish to honor the memories of those who have died in past wars in defense of our country including those who have died in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan."
  • Developed "Resolution for Joint Cooperative Efforts by the City of Livermore and the City of Pleasanton Regarding the Livermore Municipal Airport" working with Councilmember Matt Sullivan and Livermore Mayor Marshall Kamena and Council member Jeff Williams. Resolution was adopted by both City Councils. We agreed to work cooperatively for federal legislation to phase out high noise-producing jets, to establish jointly a community forum of stakeholders to meet twice yearly to discuss noise issues, to consider implementation of technology and mitigation measures to address noise, to provide more access to the public about airport noise, to coordinate future noise studies and to resume regular meetings of the Livermore/Pleasanton Liaison Committee.
  • Secured place for a youth representative on the City Pedestrian/Bicycle Master Plan.
  • Secured place for a youth representative on the City Committee on Energy and the Environment.
  • Advocated for and received council support to finance Gingerbread Preschool Playground renovations.
  • Worked as member of Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee to completely update Youth Master Plan to address emerging issues within our youth population and identify service/program gaps throughout the City.
  • Member of Tri-Valley Adolescent Health Initiative to look at teen health issues including depression, alcohol consumption, at risk behavior etc. Worked with school district to develop partnership with Axis Community Health for mental health support services.
  • Secured photovoltaic installation on Central Plant for CLC senior housing project on Staples Ranch. Included moisture-monitoring technology for water irrigation systems on Staples Ranch. Obtained first recycled first Pleasanton recycled water project for landscaping on Staples Ranch development.
  • Worked with staff to strengthen requirements for businesses that provide after school and vacation care for school age children. The city now requires a license for the State of California which requires employee background checks, health screening, education and training of staff, security of the facility, recreational opportunities, emergency planning, etc.
  • As Pleasanton Board member of Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), worked for board approval to increase frequency on Route 8, a bus route frequented by our senior population.
  • Worked with Vineyard Mobile home community and owner to resolve litigation issue with positive outcome for residents.
  • Worked with city staff to resolve lawsuits filed against Pleasanton by Urban Habitat and the Attorney General of the State of California.
