Karla Brown's Goals for Pleasanton for the next 4 years

I will be diligent to protect our scenic ridges, expand and attract new businesses for renewed economic vitality, prevent urban sprawl with slow/smart growth policies, and I will provide a new leadership that works together with citizens.

#1 Ethical and Representative Government- I strongly defend the citizens' right to be involved in the political process. I have an open door policy, and I commit to work for you. Over the past 3 years, I have helped gather over 10,400 voter signatures to give citizens the right to vote on 2 controversial ridgeline issues.

#2 Revitalize Pleasanton's Economic Development - Pleasanton was once a dominant business leader in the Tri-Valley, yet now many businesses have closed or left town. As a result, some of our business parks have office vacancy rates of over 30%. Businesses are an important source of the City's revenue. I am a local businesswoman, and I will work with city staff, the community and commerce groups to attract thriving businesses to our town.

#3 Retain Slow Growth and Planned Progress - The Court has overturned our City's Housing Cap. I support growth management that will prevent urban sprawl.

#4 Remain Committed to Ridgeline Protection - I helped organize and write current ridgeline protection policies that were overwhelmingly approved by Pleasanton voters.

#5 Revisit the Community/Youth Center Plan - A site has been selected for a Community/Youth Center on the Bernal property. Partnering with local companies to help offset expenses, I would support a plan to build a Center that provides a variety of quality classes and programs to our citizens.
