Jill Broadhurst is a community activist with a record of success in improving her Montclair area neighborhood. Troubled with the blighted corner at Moraga and Thornhill, in 2004 she began working with the city and other agencies, local vendors and volunteers to create the Short Line Pocket Park. Her efforts brought in more than $35,000 in donations and the park was completed in 2007.

Jill has represented the people of Montclair on the Montclair Safety and Improvement Council (MSIC) since its founding in 2002, serving as its Vice Chair, and establishing the MSIC Beautification Committee which she has chaired since its inception in 2004. Jill has also been active on issues of traffic/pedestrian safety, wildfire prevention, crime, parks and schools.

In 2004, Jill was nominated for and won Councilmember Jean Quan's District 4 Local Hero grant competition, donating her award to the Short Line Pocket Park. She took a leading role in the campaign to establish the Wildfire Prevention District and served on its Advisory Board. Jill currently serves on the Board of Keep Oakland Beautiful and is an Oakland Public Library Commissioner.

Jill graduated from Saint Mary's College in Moraga with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics, and spent ten years in marketing, advertising and project management for the food, brokerage, and online music industries.

Jill lives in the Montclair district with her husband and two children. Her daughter attends Montclair Elementary School, and her son, now in preschool, will be joining his sister soon. Jill is an active member of the PTA, playing a leading role in organizing the school's major fundraising event, the Metrathon.
