I grew up the son of an immigrant mother and working class father. My parents wanted a good life for their children. I benefitted from a strong California public school education growing up, and, with the help of financial aid and work study, was fortunate to attend some of the world's finest universities.

My wife Mia and I dream of good lives for our three children. We came to Alameda because we valued the extraordinary quality of life Alamedans enjoy. We love the great schools, safe streets, mom and pop shops that fill our unique business districts, parks and open space, and diversity of our community.

I grew up in a home where the values of public service, activism and the common good were instilled in me from an early age. My parents dedicated their lives to social justice and the service of others.

That commitment to public service has taken root with me and only grown stronger over time. It has led me to serve as:

  • Director of the City of Alameda Hospital Board, where I helped oversee the financial turnaround of Alameda Hospital while continuing to provide critical, high quality health care services.
  • Current chair of the City of Alameda's Economic Development Commission, where I have promoted economic growth in Alameda to improve Alameda's quality of life.
  • President of the City of Alameda's Social Service Human Relations Board, where I helped ensure a "safety net" for the most vulnerable members of our community.

I am currently employed as a Deputy City Attorney in San Francisco. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Yale in History. I did graduate work at the University of Oxford in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. I have a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School.
