Council Member; City of Albany

This information is provided by the candidate

I have been an Albany resident for almost 34 years, and moved here for the schools like so many others. I taught in Berkeley for many years and finished my career as a Spanish teacher at Albany High School, retiring in 2009. I was the Foreign Language Department Chair for several years. For some years I was the counseling and principal's secretary at Albany High and was president of the Classified School Employees' Assn. As a teacher, I held the offices of secretary, treasurer and vice president of the Albany Teachers' Assn. I have been active in the community, serving on the Waterfront Committee, co-chair of the environmental group Citizens for the Albany Shoreline, and worked to pass every school bond measure since 1987. I am a Meals-on-Wheels driver and a WriterCoach Connection tutor. I am active in the Democratic Party and was precinct co-chair in Albany for several elections. I was elected to the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee this year and am now working with the UDC (United Democratic Campaign) to get out the vote in Albany. My husband is a retired attorney, now a musician, and my son, who graduated from AHS, lives with his wife and two children in Southern California.
