"We must work together to bring positive and effective change in San Leandro! Now, You have a choice to elect a new City Council who will value your input and listen to your ideas!
As an elected School Board Member for the Oakland Unified School District in 1987 through 1992, I have had the great pleasure and honor of representing my District in Oakland. I believe that during my time as a school board member, I have made a difference that were needed to maintain and enhance the learning of our children. I worked with diverse groups of people (parents, teachers, administrators, classified staff, professional organizations, business and government agencies, community and religious groups) to improve the quality of education in the Oakland Unified School District. I also served as a Commissioner with the Life Enrichment Program with the City of Oakland and made unprecedented changes that were critically needed to maintain and enhance the program. I moved to San Leandro in 2006. I am now taking the next step to run for City Council District 1. I am committed to making the City of San Leandro a better place today and tomorrow! I have gone door to door and met with hundreds and hundreds of people including business owners, community groups, homeowners' association. We all shared the same issues and views on San Leandro. For the past six months, I have been hearing we need to save the hospital, repair our streets, increase the number of police officers and firefighters to reduce the crime in our neighborhood. We also need to support our youth to excel in school and provide more after school programs., i.e., tutoring programs, sports, and other extra curricular activities and a healthy environment. We must work together to bring positive and effective change. I will advocate and ensure that serious issues in San Leandro are addressed. Furthermore, in the midst of economic recession, San Leandro needs a strong, experienced and a strong leader to address our issues and concerns in an effective and efficient manner. I will work in collaboration with the community to: Save San Leandro Hospital. Provide pathways to economic stability. Develop San Leandro Marina to attract quality restaurants and hotel. Provide strong positive role models for City of San Leandro staff and the community to contribute to our families. Reinforce for fiscal stability and protect working families. Increase the number of police and firefighters to make San Leandro a place where residents are safe. We need to reduce the crime in our neighborhood Advocate for the needs of our senior citizens.
