As a leader in the California Democratic Party, I put our party on record calling for an end to the air and ground war in Afghanistan, as well as a ban on new offshore oil drilling, and enactment of national interest rate caps to prevent bank gouging.

In 2006, my grassroots campaign mobilized almost 38% of the primary vote in less than three months of campaigning. Gore Vidal, Daniel Ellsberg, Ron Kovic and local Democratic clubs all supported my platform that called for an end to the war in Iraq and protection of constitutional rights.

My passion for peace emerged during my high school and college days, when I participated in moratoriums against the Vietnam War and joined Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers' legal defense team. After graduating from the University of California, I volunteered to organize grape workers under the direction of Cesar Chavez.

A Co-Founder of LA Jews for Peace, I have been a guest speaker at conferences promoting peaceful coexistence and equal rights for Palestinians and Israelis living together in the Middle East

A delegate to the California Democratic Party, I served as an Executive Board member of the Party, and helped organize its Progressive Caucus, becoming Co-Chair of its Foreign Policy committee. I also co-founded the Los Angeles chapter of Progressive Democrats of America, which worked to elect President Obama and Secretary of State Bowen.

Previously, I served as News Director at Pacifica's KPFK in Los Angeles and National Public Radio's KPCS in Pasadena. Early in my news career, I won three Golden Mikes, the industry's top honor, for outstanding news writing and broadcasting. A National Board Certified educator, I am on leave from the Los Angeles Unified School District.
