California Public Schools.

By Donald Thompson

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 5; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Our schools are rated near the bottom nationwide.
How embarrassing that our school system in California is rated number 47 in our nation. That is unacceptable. We have a population of over 37 billion, and our school system should be in the top ten.

If elected to the legislature I will work hard to make our schools among the best in the nation. We need more high quality teachers, better administrators, and in order to attract them we must pay them a wage that is comparable to other professions. We must give those who are interested in entering the teaching profession special incentives to motivate them to pursue a career in teaching.

I believe the above can be done witholut raising taxes but cutting other state programs that are not important as the training of our children can help raise necessary funds. After all, how valuable are our children? They are very valuable!
