Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Bill Chambers

Candidate for
Governor; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate

We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate. - Thomas Jefferson

We are a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The U.S. Constitution, in its entirety, is the supreme law of the land. It is not a living document and it should not be cherry picked to suit any group or individual's agenda.

Cities, counties, states, and the federal government need fiscally responsible individals in office that understand basic economic and accounting principles. You cannot spend 10% to 20% more than your tax revenues year after year and expect to stay solvent. You cannot keep passing legislation that increases current programs or creates new programs if you cannot afford what currently exists.

Government is not as efficient as the private sector.

Government is not designed to produce a product or make a profit. It's a welfare state of its own, supported in full by the taxpayers.

Government has no money, it receives revenues by taxing its citizens and redistributes it where it deems appropriate.

Government doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

On budget cuts, I believe in leading by example, not the "do as we say, not as we do" philosophy. The Exectutive and Legislative branches of our government need to make cuts in their spending first, followed by the Judicial branch and all of the bureaucracies.
