HARRY DORFMAN

For over 24 years, Harry Dorfman has fought for justice for crime victims, their families, and the San Francisco community. For the last 10 years, he has been entrusted with the prosecution and conviction of the City's most violent and dangerous criminals, from rapists to murderers, including the murderer of Officer Isaac Espinoza, the murderer of Hunter McPherson (the son of former Secretary of State Bruce McPherson), the murderer of Tim Griffith in the Giants' parking lot, the murderer of Shayne Worcester on Russian Hill, and the killer of Boris Albinder in the Richmond District.

He has also served in a variety of departments in the District Attorney's Office, including Sex Crimes and Narcotics. He has supervised, trained, and mentored numerous capable and ethical young lawyers From 1989+1997, Harry taught Legal Writing and Moot Court at Hastings Law School. Since 2001, he has taught Criminal Law at San Francisco Law School, San Francisco's oldest night law school (1909), where he enjoys mentoring, educating, and preparing future generations of legal professionals. In 2008, Harry received two awards: Professor of the Year, and the students voted him Most Inspirational Teacher.

Harry's professional and educational experience has afforded him unique opportunities to study and serve the international legal community. In 1995, Harry was a Fulbright Scholar in Portugal. He has also represented the Institute for the Study and Development of Legal Systems, participating in many progressive legal reform projects in Bolivia, El Salvador, Egypt, Turkey, and India. In 1999, he served as Chief Counsel to the California Assembly Public Safety Committee and, in 1984+1985, he clerked for the Alaska Supreme Court. He is member of the State Bar Criminal Section Executive Committee.

Harry graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1979. He then taught high school in Santa Monica, California, before moving to San Francisco to attend Hastings Law School. He graduated from Hastings in 1984. He joined the San Francisco District Attorney's Office in October, 1985, after returning from Alaska.
