Candidate Statement

By Pete Babich

Candidate for Council Member to succeed Betty Rexford if recalled; City of Poway

This information is provided by the candidate
Long time resident ready to give back.
Reason for running:
I have reached a point in my life when I can give back to the community that my family and I have enjoyed. I'm confident my technical background and managerial experience will be an asset to the city. I will work to keep Poway a great place to live, work, play, and visit.

Long term resident invested in Poway:
My family has lived in Poway for 35 years. Our children grew up in Poway and benefited from great schools, safe neighborhoods, and outdoor activities. I coached soccer, baseball, and softball and served on boards. I was a founding father of the Poway Vaqueros. I'm a member of the Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol.

Proven leader:
Masters degree in electrical engineering. Senior executive with Hewlett-Packard, 17 years. Entrepreneur and small business owner, 18 years. I will bring the same level of managerial expertise, dedication to excellence, and budgetary discipline that I practice in my professional business career.

Poway is at a crossroad:
The city is almost built out. We can't count on growth to fund our life style. Poway's general plan has served us well for the past thirty years, but pressure to increase density, water shortages, fire threats, and a down economy threaten our way of life. I will act to preserve what is good about Poway and work to develop its vision for the next thirty years.

Commitment to service:
You can count on me to show up, do my homework, and make decisions that improve the general welfare of Poway. I don't seek higher office and I'm not backed by special interests. My focus is on Poway.

I appreciate your vote
