Statement of FORREST WILLIAMS, Candidate for
Member, Board of Supervisors, District 1

Occupation: Santa Clara County Commissioner
Education and Qualifications:
Government at all levels faces extraordinarily challenging times. The entrepreneurial spirit that has made Silicon Valley the envy of the world must be carried over into our government institutions to find new and innovative ways to provide service as we tighten our belts and control costs.

As a City Councilmember, School Board member and IBM Engineer, I've always prided myself on getting things done. It's easy to complain about difficult problems, I'm more interested in solving them.

We faced difficult challenges every year that I served on the City Council, and yet we found ways to encourage new economic growth, fund public safety, help our schools and fix the roads.

The biggest challenge for everyone in government now is how to get our local economy going and growing again. First, we must continue to support and encourage our technology industry to innovate and expand. Second, we must look for ways to assist the very important biotechnology industry. And third, the Green technology wave is coming and Silicon Valley must be the center of that burgeoning sector.

I relish the chance to work on these challenges and I respectfully ask for your vote to get started! Thank you. http://www.ForrestWilliams.com
