Work As A Prosecutor

In 1996, just a year after joining the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office, Deputy D.A. Jeff Rosen was honored as the Misdemeanor Trial Attorney of the Year. Over his next fourteen years of service, his reputation for excellence and integrity has grown. In fact, a San Jose Mercury News columnist calls Jeff, "the most respected career prosecutor in the (DA's) office." As a Deputy D.A., and a member of the elite Homicide Unit, Jeff has earned this reputation by prosecuting some of our community's toughest and highest profile criminal cases.

In all, Jeff has tried sixty-five jury trials and has one of the top conviction rates in the DA's office. Among his prosecutorial highlights are the convictions of the infamous local Hell's Angels' president for manufacturing methamphetamine and a fifteen-year-old cold murder case based on DNA evidence. Additionally, Jeff has convicted more than fifty child molesters and rapists. One-hundred percent of Jeff's search warrants for drugs, guns, and contraband have been upheld.

Jeff's Background

Jeff Rosen's commitment to law and public safety were forged in the struggles and triumphs of his family. Every member of his father's family was interned in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. After the war, his father's family spent five years in refugee camps before immigrating to the United States, settling in Wisconsin and later California.

Although Jeff's father never went to college, together his parents instilled in Jeff a strong educational ethic and love for this country. Jeff graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude and won the Outstanding Senior Award. Jeff then went on to the prestigious Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley. At Boalt Hall, Jeff was a top Moot Court performer and took time away from his studies to teach English to newly arrived immigrants. After a brief stint in private practice, Jeff followed his true calling and became a prosecutor in Santa Clara County.

Record of Integrity and Community Involvement

Today, Jeff Rosen is a candidate for District Attorney. Jeff is dedicated to raising ethical standards within the office and to restoring integrity and public trust. If elected, this "most respected career prosecutor" promises to bring back the Cold Case Unit, create a Conviction Integrity Unit, work closely with law enforcement to improve public safety, and establish the highest standards of professionalism for the prosecutors in his office.

Jeff is an active member of his community. He served as the president of Kol Emeth Synagogue where he managed a 1,500 member congregation with 20 employees and an annual budget of $1.5 million. As a volunteer, Jeff taught trial advocacy at Santa Clara University Law School, was a guest lecturer at Santa Clara University and San Jose State University, and trained San Jose Police Officers in report writing. Jeff's wife Amber is an Assistant United States Attorney. They have two young daughters + Rachel, 10, and Naomi, 8.
