Statement of DAVID CUEVA, Candidate for
Member, San Jose City Council, District 9

Occupation: Senior Account Analyst                Age: 44
Education and Qualifications:      I have been a resident of District 9 for the past 20years and I have lived in the city of San Jose for over 40 years where I grew up. I attended Willow Glen High school and hold two Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Business Management. My professional experience consists of 20years in the field of accounting and finance. Presently I work for a CPA firm as an auditing analyst.
It seems when the city cannot meet its budget, the strategy has always been the same, increase taxes and cut school funding; this has to stop. I want the opportunity to prove to the citizens and those in office that there are alternate measures that can be explored to meet the needs of the city without taking from our schools and burdening the citizens with taxes.
The city needs proactive, decisive and strategic leadership to bring about needed budget reform. Given the opportunity I believe that I have the qualities and drive to make this happen and pilot the city in a more positive direction. Decisions need to be made on issues that mortgage the cities future and hinders it's a ability to prosper.
