Statement of JIM COGAN, Candidate for
Member, San Jose City Council, District 9

Occupation: Chief of Staff
Education and Qualifications:
My wife Shannon and I feel blessed to live in this community and we are proud to be raising our two young sons here.
As the President of both Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers and our Neighborhood Association, I am working to protect our quality of life in District 9, through crime prevention and emergency preparedness. My commitment to public safety has earned me the endorsements of the San Jose Police Officers' Association, San Jose Firefighters, and our former Councilmember John Diquisto. I am proud of my record of protecting our neighborhoods and helping law enforcement arrest over 1,000 dangerous criminals.
As an Elder at my church, I know the importance of a strong community and will continue to work to create good jobs, ensure quality services for senior citizens, and support good schools with well-trained teachers.
The City must take a lesson from our residents and live within its means. Good parks and libraries, public safety and well maintained roads are what we expect and I am prepared to make the tough decisions critical to ensure we protect these core city services during tough budget times.
I would appreciate your vote. http://www.votecogan.com
