Statement of TERESA ALVARADO, Candidate for
Member, Board of Supervisors, District 1

Occupation: Foundation CEO                Age: 45
Education and Qualifications:
Now more than ever, we need leaders who can make a difference. For decades, I've done so in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Today, our challenge is reducing waste and creating jobs.
My commitment to fiscal accountability-ensuring every dollar returns maximum value-has earned me the support of former San Jose Vice Mayor Frank Fiscalini and County Assessor Larry Stone.
The future is in green technology. I have the experience to promote this sector. I've worked at NASA/Ames Research Center, in the energy field, and have environmental management, technology, and engineering degrees.
We also need human capital to sustain our innovation economy. As a foundation executive, I've championed children's health care, childhood obesity prevention, math and science education, and college scholarships.
I'm supported by former Santa Clara County Supervisor Susanne Wilson and San Jose Mayors Susan Hammer and Janet Gray Hayes.
Because of my knowledge of South County's distinct needs, I've been endorsed by Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate, Councilmembers Greg Sellers and Larry Carr, former Mayor Dennis Kennedy, and Gilroy Councilmembers Cat Tucker and Perry Woodward.
I'm committed to quality jobs, education, transportation and a safe community. I will serve with integrity, energy, creativity. I respectfully ask for your vote.
