Balancing Budgets

Drastic efforts must be taken to ensure a balanced budget and to continue public services.
In order to solve the revenue shortages due to increasing demands on San Bernardino County services, drastic efforts must be taken to ensure a balanced budget and to continue public services at an acceptable level. The CAO must be given authority to negotiate with stakeholders in order to establish how to make every department sustainable, and yet accountable. These will include the adjustment of fees and what services are to be cut and what are essential. A re-evaluation in retirement plans is in order to reflect the current economic realities, for example: reductions in retirement matches and extensions of retirement age.
