I was appointed Sheriff two years ago. I came into a Sheriff's
Department that was in disarray and demoralized. The day I was
appointed, I began to rebuild the organization from the top down and
to restore the trust of the public we so proudly serve. I began to
make needed reforms in a Department that suffered from a lack of
leadership and mission at the very top of the organization. I
appointed a new command staff with a focus on leadership and ethics,
reorganized the organization structure to make it more efficient,
commissioned an audit of our jail operations to reduce our liability
and lawsuits, implemented leadership and ethics training, and met with
over 250 community groups. I will continue to lead the Orange County
Sheriff's Department with a focus on proactive, efficient law
enforcement.
