Odest T. Riley, Jr. has called Inglewood home for over two decades. He brings a multitude of experiences and accomplishments in finance, social justice and community development to his campaign for the Democratic nomination in the 51st Assembly District. Odest currently serves as the Political Director for the Los Angeles County Young Democrats and the New Wave Democratic Club. He is also the co-founder of the Baby Boomer Consulting, Inc, a non-profit organization which vision is to provide youth with the life skills and training essential for success in today's competitive society. Programs utilized by BBC focus on cultural consciousness and empowerment, preventing "at-risk" youth gang participation and intensive job and life skills education for the unskilled and unemployed. BBC is Odest's internal driving force and embodies his personal the goals, vision and missions. Odest is also a member of numerous organizations and devotes his personal time to the improvement of communities and its residents. Odest has implemented plans to improve the academic achievement at Dorsey High by challenging students to meet higher academic standards. He has donated countless funds to a variety of youth and community focused groups that share his vision of an empowered, healthy and educated community. He has a passion for training the next generation by empowering them with the tools required to thrive in every arena of life and spends his spare time mentoring young men for their personal success and growth and has a lasting impression on those he has touched. Many of his past mentees keep in touch with him and update him on their progresses in life. As a member of Los Angeles County and its many communities, Odest has developed an enthusiasm and understanding for the residents and their needs. He is a strong community member committed to transforming Inglewood and her sister communities into the true gems that are within their essence. |
