Born in Easton, PA in 1957, Pete Kohut's love for politics began in high school, serving as Student Government President, carrying his passion to the university level, majoring in Political Science at St. Joseph's University.

A 30 year resident of Bridgeport, Pete has served the community in a variety of ways over the years. In the mid 80's Pete became active in Bridgeport politics by working with the Bridgeport Citizens Council, a local citizens group, formed in opposition to a trash baling station that was moving into the Borough. Pete has also generously volunteered his time to coach Bridgeport Little League Baseball in the early 1990s.

Winning election to Bridgeport Council in 1991, Pete was chosen to serve as Council's liason to the Upper Merion Area School Board. In 1994, Bridgeport Council elected Pete as Council Vice-President, a position in which he would serve until 2003. Pete has been and continues to be a staunch supporter of the Bridgeport Police and the local fire companies (Goodwill and Bridgeport #1).

Pete has served as a Republican committeeman for over 10 years and is currently the Bridgeport Municipal Chair. He has also previously served as a 2nd vice chair of the Area 5 Republican committee.

Pete is a member of Sacred Heart Church in Swedesburg (Upper Merion), PA. He has worked on the Parish's Polish Festival for over 20 years.

Pete currently lives in Bridgeport with his wife of 30 years, Marylynn (Kuras). They have 2 children: a son, Peter Jr. and a daughter, Kimberly. Peter is employed as Facilities Manager at the Cadient Group in King of Prussia.
